Every year, Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release (WRR) assists almost 1,000 wild animals. Orphaned babies are carefully raised so they grow up to be wild adults that can be returned to the wild. Injured adults are rehabilitated and returned to their rescue sites so they can rejoin their families.
In addition to rehabilitating wildlife, WRR gives almost 100 educational presentations every year to schools and community groups teaching the community the importance of living in harmony with its wild neighbors. In addition, WRR participates in numerous community events and festivals including the Nevada County Fair, the Celtic Festival, the Loma Rica Harvest Festival, and many others. Again, the goal is to educate the public on the importance of wildlife conservation.
WRR has approximately 30 trained wildlife rehabilitators. These volunteers are all highly skilled and each year take between 8-20 hours of continuing education on the care and rehabilitation of wildlife. Animals that are cared for by WRR cover species such as songbirds, waterfowl, raptors, small mammals, and fawns. WRR is licensed by the California Dept. of Fish and Game and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to care for and release native wildlife.
WRR is an all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit. It depends on memberships, donations, and fund-raisers to pay for the housing, medicine, food, and veterinary expenses associated with the caring for their wild patients.
You can help animals like Tricky the Coyote by supporting WRR in its efforts to care for our wild neighbors. Please take a moment to fill out and return the membership form in the attached brochure.
