2010 Board of Directors Nominations

We are accepting nominations for positions on our 2010 Board of Directors!
Nominations open on November 1, 2009 and close November 30, 2009 at midnight
for the following Wildlife Rehabilitation & Release Board positions:
  • President
  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • 3 Directors-at-Large

The nominating committee will compile the nominations
and ensure all candidates are members in good standing and qualify for the position.
Per WRR's by-laws, voting will be conducted by ballot at our Annual Meeting January 9, 2010.
Below is a description of the Board Members’ duties. All positions on the Board are one-year terms.

President

  • Be a member in good standing with Wildlife
  • Rehabilitation and Release
  • Oversee board meetings
  • Serve as ex-officio member of all committees
  • Insure that board resolutions are carried out
  • Call special meetings if necessary
  • With board approval, appoint all committee
  • chairs and recommend who will serve on committees
  • Prepare agenda for board meetings
  • Conduct new board member orientation
  • Work with nominating committee to recruit
  • new board members
  • Coordinate periodic board assessment
  • Act as a spokesperson for the organization
  • Periodically consult with the board members
  • on their roles and help them assess their per- formance
  • Be available by email and have the ability to electronically produce and transfer information
  • and reports to board members

Vice-President

  • Be a member in good standing with Wildlife
  • Rehabilitation and Release
  • Attend all board meetings
  • Carry out special assignments as requested by
  • the board president
  • Understand the responsibilities of the board
  • president and be able to perform these duties in the president’s absence
  • Participate as a vital part of the board leader-
  • ship
  • Serve on at least two committees
  • Be available by email and have the ability to electronically produce and transfer information and reports to board members

Secretary

  • Be a member in good standing with Wildlife
  • Rehabilitation and Release
  • Attend all board meetings
  • Maintain all board and organizational records
  • and electronically back up all financial records and ensure their safety
  • Keep a record of the meetings of WRR and of
  • the proceedings of the board of directors. At each board meeting the Secretary will present, in either oral or written form, an accounting of the preceding board meeting. The Secretary shall keep the book of membership and shall serve all notices required by law or the by- laws of WRR.
  • Assume responsibilities of the president in the
  • absence of the board president and vice presi- dent
  • Provide notice of board meetings and/ or com-
  • mittee meetings when such notice is required
  • Serve on at least two committees
  • Pick up mail and direct it to the appropriate
  • person(s)
  • Be available by email and have the ability to electronically produce and transfer information and reports to board members

Treasurer

  • Be a member in good standing with Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release
  • Attend all board meetings
  • Prepare and keep a full set of books of ac-
  • count, showing every detail of accounts, all re- ceipts and disbursements, the amount of money owed by WRR or owing to it, and other such information
  • Present in writing at each board meeting a
  • Treasurer’s Report showing every detail of ac- counts, all receipts and disbursements, the amount of money owed by WRR or owing to it, and other such information
  • Electronically back up all financial records and
  • ensure their safety
  • Manage the board’s review of and action re-
  • lated to the board’s financial responsibilities
  • Serve on at least two committees
  • Ensure that appropriate financial reports are
  • made available to the board on a timely basis as determined by the board
  • Prepare the annual budget and present to the
  • board for approval
  • Review any possible audit and answer board
  • members’ questions about the audit
  • Be available by email and have the ability to electronically produce and transfer information
  • and financial reports to board members

Directors-at-Large

  • Be a member in good standing with Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release
  • Attend all board meetings
  • Serve on at least two committees
  • Be available by email and have the ability to
  • electronically produce and transfer information and reports to board members
